Zaynab Issam Majid Al-Khazali, a 15 year old Iraqi girl and high school student was shot dead on September 19, 2022 in the village of Albu Alwan in the Abu Ghraib district in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, as a result of random bullet.
The young girl’s family said that Zaynab was killed by a random bullet in broad daylight while helping her father at their farm. The random bullet came from the shooting range of a military base in their residential area.
Local news agencies in Iraq and social media channels reported that Zaynab was martyred by a bullet of the American forces stationed at Camp Victory near her home. Zaynab’s family house is located near Baghdad International Airport, west of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The residents of this village have previously complained several times about the presence of these military bases in their residential area. These military bases cause them panic and fear, and disturb their daily lives. Previously there have been many injuries to children due to the shooting range of this military base.
The Security Media Cell of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office has published on its twitter account that the Baghdad Operations Command has opened an investigation into the death of Zaynab Issam Majid al-Khazali.
The Baghdad Operations Command pledged that the competent authorities supervising the course of this investigation will announce its details to the public opinion.
The Baghdad Operations Command also pledged that they will take the necessary legal measures against anyone who is proven to be involved in this incident.

So far, there has been no comment from the American side regarding the martyrdom of the 15 year old Iraqi girl, Zaynab Issam Majed Al-Khazali.
