The City of Markham has been named as one of Canada’s best employers in 2024 by Forbes for the fourth consecutive year.
Markham is also ranked as the top city in Ontario and in the top 10 for government services.
“We work extremely hard to ensure a welcoming, diverse and inclusive environment that creates a positive culture for success,” said Mayor Frank Scarpitti, expressing his gratitude to chief administrative officer Andy Taylor and the senior management team as well as many staff.
The list is determined through an independent survey of more than 40,000 Canada-based employees working for companies employing at least 500 people in Canada.
The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees, who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employee evaluations also included other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.
“To be recognized for the fourth year in a row is a testament to our successful people plan and to the passionate, hard work and dedication of our staff at the City of Markham,” said Taylor.

The Regional Municipality of York and Oak Valley Health have also been recognized by Forbes as among the best employers for 2024.
