The aerospace manufacturer’s new SAF Dashboard tracks the global SAF production capacity, allowing users to “drill into estimated SAF capacity by pathway, country and operational date”

Recognising that reducing carbon emissions will be “critically dependent” on growing the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Boeing has unveiled a new data visualisation tool that monitors the expected levels of global SAF capacity over the next decade.
Called the SAF Dashboard, the tool uses various adjustable metrics and data collected by Bloomberg NEF, allowing for a comprehensive examination of global SAF production levels. It is one of many climate solution-based models put forward by Boeing to meet its pledge to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
“SAF Dashboard portrays the data visually as our industry works together across sectors to increase SAF production for a more sustainable aerospace future,” Boeing’s Chief Sustainability Officer Chris Raymon said, adding that SAF “reduces CO2 emissions by up to 85%” and offers the “greatest potential to decarbonize aviation over the next 30 years.”
The dashboard contains an array of metrics, including “operational date,” “fuel type” and controls to adjust the flight’s “pathway.” Users can select a country and access the level of “cumulative announced production” for a specific time period.
Furthermore, the dashboard compares the percentage of SAF used relative to total jet consumption.
Boeing hopes the data will “advance the conversation on aviation decarbonization,” which they assert is core to the company’s culture. They aim to develop sustainable innovation projects for the industry’s future.
The aerospace giant first took the sustainable project to the 2023 Paris Air Show to “support discussion and action” of decarbonization with stakeholders across the industry. The event is the world’s largest air show and was highly anticipated following its cancellation in 2021 due to the global pandemic.
The model follows closely behind the company’s launch of the climate impact model dubbed “Cascade” last year. “Cascade” also utilises data to examine the impact of various sustainability strategies to tackle high emissions.
